Romans 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that ones slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Do you not know? That just rings in my head. Do you not know you're a slave. But in it we have a freedom. That thought is foreign to say the least. We're slaves, but we have liberty to choose what we're a slave to. Now this is in a spiritual perspective obviously, it isn't quite as tangible as it sounds but really we have two options. Be obedient to sin which leads to separation from God in this life, and in the life that is to come.. Death. Or we can be obedient to God, which leads to righteousness and in that righteousness sanctification, Life . Obeying God isn't always easy and Paul nails it on the head when he tells us there is a War going on within us. The flesh wants what it wants, and in that flesh is sin and we can fall into it and allow it to enslave us, but the Spirit of God continues to call us into righteousness to call us into a deeper relationship with Him that brings forth life. In that perspective it's a no brainer, obviously I want to be obedient to God and have eternal life but my flesh cries out for what it wants and wars against the Spirit as if two slave drivers are fighting over who gets the slave and here's the offer that's on the table. Sin offers a life of quote unquote freedom to do what you please and run a muck not having to obey anyone or anything live life the way you want to buy what you want say what you want be careless and run with it. Doesn't sound like being a slave at all does it? That's where spiritual eyes come into play. Choosing sin is choosing death. But God offers this- a life of purpose, a life of discipline and a life that builds character. A life of Joy that surpasses all understanding and a life that overflows into the lives of others. God offers you a life that isn't focused on self, but on the others around you focused on the kingdom of God and His plan for you to further it. But with that life comes a price, and that price is sacrificing your rights to do what you want. I thought I knew what it meant to have a life surrendered but in all honesty I'm just now starting to understand what it means to have a life that is not your own. Doing things that I just don't feel like in the moment but allowing my flesh to be crucified and agreeing with God's plans in the moment. Obedience is not easy but it's far more fulfilling then giving over to the flesh.

Application:
I will ask God to reveal to me an area of my life that is not submitted to Him and confess it to one of my classmates.
